The new Microsoft Edge browser allows you to install extensions from Google Play and Microsoft Edge store. If you want to learn how to install extensions from either of these stores, this article will be a good place to start.
What are extensions?
Extensions are plug-ins, a app/program for a web browser. These are tools that work with the browser to allow you to achieve more with it. Different browsers have different types of extensions, and they manage them differently to. Extensions have to be compatible for the browser the developer wishes to publish them to. So one for Firefox won’t be compatible with Chromium browsers, and vice versa.
Viewing extensions already in Microsoft Edge
To view what extensions you have already installed to Edge, please:
- Go to the ellipsis icon to bring up the settings menu,
- From the menu, select extensions,
- You should be directed to this page: edge://extensions/
Here you can see the extensions you have already installed to Microsoft Edge. These will be shown in two different groups. One group is ones which have been downloaded from the Microsoft Edge store. The other group is ones downloaded from other sources (Including Chrome Store)
Installing extensions from Google Web Store
To install extensions from the google Web App store, please visit this link in your browser:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/extensions
You will need to sign into the store using your Google Account. If you have not got one, you can create one.
Once you have done this, search for the extension you want to add. Then select Add to Chrome
Adding extensions from the Microsoft Edge Web store

You will need to sign into the site with your Microsoft Account. If you do not have one, sign up here:

Once you have logged into the web page, you will be able to search for the extension you want to add.
Once you have selected the extension you wish to add. Select get
Once you have installed the extension. This will appear next to your address bar.
